On November 16th from 9:00am until 3:00pm, more than 120 parishioners came together for a two-part session in the Parish Hall.
The morning session included presentations of the following topics:
In the afternoon session, parishioners gathered by topic to breathe into the initial design ideas for the new church. This was an opportunity for all to engage in envisioning groups and provide input, direction, and recommendations. This is an exciting first step to designing our new spiritual home!
The following is a list of topics for input and discussion during the afternoon Building Committee Workshop:
Presenters were Fr. Bruce Bradley, Deacon Doug Biglen, Fr. Jason Cargo, Pastor of St. Joseph’s in Richardson and member of the Diocesan Sacred Spaces Committee, along with Seton’s Building Committee, our Project Manager, Kevin Bird with Devcon and our team from HH Architects.
LIVING OUR FAITH, BUILDING OUR FUTURE
A Building Committee for the future new church and expanded facility was created this past summer. It consists of nine members of our parish representing our Finance Council, Worship Commission and seven people who have experience in architectural design, construction management, city planning and code enforcement:
Bob Case Joe Drobycki Tina Firgens Ric Galceran
Al Hernandez Jim McSweeney Dcn. Mike Seibold, Chair Carolyn Simoneaux, Worship Commission
John Stroh, Finance Council
We have been very blessed to have their input this summer in the process of interviewing and hiring a Project Manager/Owner’s Representative, who is Kevin Bird of Devcon Development Construction. Mr. Bird has assisted in the building of St. Gabriel in McKinney, St. Francis in Frisco and Good Shepherd in Garland. He also assisted in the expansion of St. Rita complex in Dallas. Additionally, he now has the creative job of renovating our neighboring parish, Prince of Peace.
The Building Committee has been very helpful in site visitation, and in interviewing local architectural firms to assist us in our future design needs. HH Architects, based in Richardson, has been selected for our project.
In early 2019, we conducted a weeklong Feasibility Study both in personal interviews and in several public sessions. This involved the responses of about 400 parishioners. We would now like to hear from those of you who were unable to participate! The survey contains nine particular questions, and an additional space to add your own special concerns.
We look forward to hearing what you want in a new church, especially as we now approach the design phase of this project! We also thank Mr. Mark Filips of VisionWorks in assisting us in the fund raising aspect of this journey.
