“Fostering Faith…Cultivating Community”

Our mission is to provide the children of the Catholic Community of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and their families with an environment in which meaningful experiences challenge them to grow in faith by living and proclaiming Christ’s message through worship, catechesis, building community and service to others.

Faith Formation

Children’s Ministry invites families to be active participants in helping their children to grow in their faith. By following the steps of catechesis, our program promotes knowledge of our faith and builds on christian values, teaches about our Church, prayer and Catholic community, and calls us all to participate in worship and to be good disciples. Children will learn that faith is a gift from God; it grows and develops throughout life, is alive in the community, and lives in our thoughts and actions.

2012-2013 Registration Information
Preschool through fifth grade Faith Formation is offered in one-hour classes at the following times (The class calendars are included for your reference):

To register please call or come by the Children's Ministry office.
All necessary forms and registration instructions are available on-line in the form section in the right-hand column of this page. You will need to read the Registration Information sheet. Follow the instructions, print and fill out the Registration form and, if you are willing to help out, the Adult Volunteer form. If you are not yet a registered member of the parish, you may do that electronically by filling out the on-line Parish Registration form or by picking up a registration card at the Welcome Desk in the foyer of the church or from any of the Parish Offices.

Sacrament Preparation

The Diocesan policy is that children receive one year of Religious Education before beginning sacramental preparation classes for Reconciliation and Eucharist, traditionally celebrated in the 2nd grade. Therefore, we strongly encourage all 1st graders to begin Faith Formation. If your child is between 2nd and 5th grade and has not celebrated Baptism, Reconciliation or Eucharist, please call the Children’s Ministry office for information about sacramental preparation.

Before your child receives the sacraments parents will be asked to fill out and return the Sacrament Information form. A copy of the child's Baptismal Certificate must be attached to the form if your child was baptized in a church other than St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. The forms should be returned to the Children's Ministry Office. They are due by Nov. 1, 2012.

If your child misses a session, it is expected the lesson will be made up. You can make up the class any day of the same week (Sun - Wed) or if that is not possible simply go over the missed lesson at home with your child. Please do so in a timely manner as some of the lessons are not meaningful if you wait too long to complete them (i.e. the Advent or Christmas lessons). You should attempt one of the suggested activities at the end of the chapter and let the registrar know that you have made up the lesson at home. The registrar will make the appropriate notation on the attendance sheet and change the attendance files. You may call the Children's Ministry Assistant/Registrar, Eileen Schuett at 972-598-5505 Ext 4260 or email at eschuett@eseton.org.
